On the road together – boy discovered by shot bear in Italy

Date:

In Italy, a hunter shot the bear “Amarena” on Friday night because he felt threatened on his property (see video above). Now the brown bear cubs, who are only a few months old, have been sighted. The two are doing well at Abruzzo Park.

They can move around the area without any problem and also feed themselves, as the park in central Italy said on Tuesday – something that was not expected. Therefore, the original plan to capture them was not carried out. The mother, called “Amarena” (black cherry), often walked through the villages with her offspring and came close to people.

Here you see a message from the Italian Abruzzo Park on Facebook.

Hunter admits mistakes
That was her downfall last week: a hunter and businessman shot the brown bear because he said he felt threatened on his property. “I made a mistake. After meeting the bear, I immediately called the carabinieri (police in Italy, note),” the man told the media. The Public Prosecution Service has already launched an investigation against the 56-year-old. Because he received death threats, the man is under police protection.

About 60 brown bears still live in the Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo Lazio e Molise. The cubs of the shot brown bear have been searched for days. To lure them in, traps with bait and food had been set. The police commander feared that the animals could become prey for stray dogs.
