7 meters down – firefighter fell from the roof during extinguishing work

A fire broke out in a family home in the Tyrolean municipality of Axams on Tuesday. One of the firefighters fell seven meters from the roof, where he lay injured on the ground. The fire was extinguished after the large-scale operation involving 82 firefighters.

During a large-scale operation following a fire in Axams (Innsbruck-Land district), a firefighter fell seven meters from the roof of a family home on Tuesday afternoon. The man lost his balance while removing roof panels, police said. He lay injured on the ground and was treated by the rescuers who were already there. The fire was eventually extinguished by the deployment of ten vehicles and 82 firefighters.

Taken to Innsbruck clinic
The injured person was taken to the clinic in Innsbruck. The extent of the damage from the fire is still unclear. It is also not yet known what caused the fire.
