Eight Hungarian citizens visited the Jennersdorf district 29 times and stole objects worth 190,000 euros, including four tons of copper cables. Four of them must go to prison, including a pregnant 21-year-old.
The suspect undertook real trips in the south of Burgenland from April 2022. Living just a stone’s throw from the border, they showed up 29 times in various combinations to pack what wasn’t nailed down with rivets and nails: 18 bicycles, six lawnmower tractors, three mopeds, a car trailer, five brushcutters, two power generators , two high-pressure cleaners, hundreds of meters of underground cable (value: € 45,000), special tools (€ 15,000), catering equipment (€ 6,000) and four tons of copper cable (€ 100,406.26).
The two heads of the gang were sentenced to 30 months in prison by the Eisenstadt Regional Court on July 19, and the accomplices are now on trial. A 21-year-old, pregnant by her port neighbor, made 22 trips and is likely to face the child in prison – 24 months, 18 of which are suspended. The detention is taken into account, which she was allowed to leave after 72 days due to the exemplary cooperation with the agents.
High fines
A 31-year-old, who was only involved once, definitely missed two years – he had six relevant criminal convictions. Four perpetrators were allowed to leave the prison with a grin, the suspended sentences vary between one month and one and a half years. Everyone will have to nibble on the high fines for a long time to come.
