Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin resigns as a member of parliament. She will take up a new position at the Tony Blair Institute, she announced on Thursday. The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, as its full name is, is a non-profit organization headquartered in London that advises governments around the world.
Although she is not moving to London for the time being, the new job as a strategic adviser will involve a lot of travel and will not be compatible with her work as a parliamentarian, says Marin. That is why she tendered her resignation on Thursday.
An election defeat heralded his departure from politics
Social Democrat Marin was elected Prime Minister of Finland in 2019. At 34, she was for a time the youngest head of government in the world and enjoyed a certain popularity at home and abroad. She and her Social Democrats lost the Finnish parliamentary elections in April, despite winning.
