When the police showed up at Wiener Strasse in Linz on Wednesday around 5:30 PM due to a loud argument between several men, a Syrian (24) fled and suddenly ran across the busy street. He abruptly changed course – that was his downfall.
The 24-year-old crossed the road again in the opposite direction and was hit by the car of a 29-year-old Croat from Linz. The 24-year-old was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital after treatment by an emergency doctor.
Two bags of medicine
After the memorable escape, it quickly became clear why the 24-year-old was in such a hurry and ran away from the police: the young man had drugs with him. Two bags were found on him, one of which was probably filled with heroin, the other probably filled with cannabis.
No driver’s license
The 29-year-old driver of the accident – fortunately he was unhurt – is also at risk of getting into trouble because he does not have a valid driver’s license. Both men are charged.
