The Spittal an der Drau district has recently been plagued by a series of burglaries. Criminals struck here several times while their victims slept peacefully in their beds: once they entered through the basement, another time they ransacked an entire house while the owner dreamed of better things. Particularly brutal perpetrators even kicked in the door of a house and threatened the resident with a gun.
