Son’s business – Americans believe in Joe Biden’s involvement

Date:

The majority of Americans (61 percent) believe President Joe Biden was involved in his son’s business dealings with Ukraine and China. This is the result of a CNN poll of 1,503 people. About four in ten respondents believe Hunter Biden has acted illegally.

Another share (18 percent) believes that the procedure is unethical but not illegal. As reported, Hunter Biden (53) was given a position on the board of directors of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma in 2014, while his father Joe was responsible for the US Ukraine policy as then US vice president. Later, a US Congressional report revealed flows of money to the president’s son from China (and Romania). The money is said to come from, among other things, a Chinese energy company with ties to the Communist Party. Specifically, Hunter Biden is accused of tax crimes abroad.

Documents have been leaked
The New York Post has now leaked documents from the Public Prosecution Service that must prove that Joe Biden stopped the corruption investigations against his son as vice president – something that former President Donald Trump also claimed – without corresponding evidence. The president also threatened that Ukraine would receive only $1 billion in aid if its top prosecutor resigned. He launched an investigation against the Ukrainian oligarch who had Hunter Biden on the payroll. It involved about five million euros per year, from which Joe Biden would also have benefited.

According to his own statement, he was not involved in these business relationships at all. According to a recent poll by CNN, 61 percent now think Biden had at least some involvement in his son’s business affairs. About four in ten respondents (38 percent) do not believe this. The majority (55 percent) also believe that the US president has not acted appropriately in this regard.

Party political differences
These views vary depending on party political affiliation. Although Democrats generally do not accept any involvement, the clear majority of Republicans see this differently. The survey was oversampled to reach representatives of both political camps. But Republicans have provided no direct evidence that the president personally benefited from these deals. They could now feel vindicated by the New York Post report.

The next charge against Hunter Biden is expected to be filed in late September, this time for illegal gun possession. Elections will take place in the US on November 5, 2024 and the election campaign has already begun.
