An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale shook several cities in the country on Friday night. The quake was felt from the city of Marrakech to the capital Rabat at around 11:11 pm (local time). The epicenter would be between Marrakech and Agadir.
At least 296 people died and 153 were injured in Morocco after an earthquake magnitude 6.9 on the Richter scale This Friday evening shocked several cities in the country, the Ministry of the Interior reports.
The Interior Ministry added that the victims have been transferred to hospital centers to receive necessary first aid.
The quake was felt around 11:11 p.m (local time) from the city of Marrakech to the capital Rabat. He epicenter would be between Marrakech and Agadir, where serious material damage occurred, including the collapse of houses and walls. However, there is currently no precise estimate of the extent of the damage.

For its part, the Spanish National Geographic Institute (IGN) has reported on its website a second earthquake of a smaller magnitude, 4.8 on the Richter scale, in the city of Berrechid.
Emergencies 112 Andalusia has reported on Twitter that it has “received more than twenty calls due to a seismic movement felt in the municipalities of Huelva, Seville, Málaga and Jaén.” In the same publication, they added that there is no evidence of damage and that they are waiting for IGN to confirm the information.
