This is how judges decide – when fatal mix-ups occur in hospitals

Date:

This case is causing a stir across the country: at the Bad Ischl clinic in Upper Austria, a patient (73) died after being given a pill that was not intended for him. Similar mistakes have occurred in recent years – from incorrect IV bags to amputation of the wrong leg. But how does the judge decide in such cases?

Much remains to be clarified surrounding the death of a 73-year-old patient in Bad Ischl hospital after he was given a tablet that was not intended for him. “We support the justice system and provide all the facts. An objective analysis is also important to us,” says Tilmann Königswieser, medical director of the Salzkammergut Klinikum, about the case brought to light by the “Krone”.
