The 14-year-old boy found dead on the grounds of a school and sports center in Bavaria is said to have been shot by a peer. The suspect (14) was brought before the judge on Saturday morning.
As “Bild” reported online on Saturday evening, the two boys would have attended the 8th grade of secondary school in Lohr am Main together. Classmates reported to the newspaper that Francesco S. owed 60 euros to suspect Valerio and that a fight had broken out as a result. Valerio allegedly shot Francesco. This was also stated by a 15-year-old acquaintance of the suspect who contacted the police.
As reported, a patrol then drove to the school center to get an idea of the situation. They found Francesco lifeless and an emergency doctor eventually declared him dead. In the evening, the suspected student was arrested at his place of residence. According to a police spokesperson, he has now told investigators where the murder weapon is located. Emergency services seized them during a search.
Arrest warrant issued for murder
According to the report, it is still unclear how the 14-year-old came into possession of a firearm. The autopsy of the murdered man revealed that he had been killed by a gunshot. The search for bullet casings at the crime scene is ongoing. Police do not believe there are any other perpetrators and say the families of the two young people are receiving psychological support.
Valerio was taken into custody on Saturday and an arrest warrant for murder is said to have been issued. At the age of 14, he is currently criminally liable. While some German media report that the teenager has not yet confessed to the crime, other sources say the opposite.
Horrible acts in the neighboring country
In recent months, acts of violence by children and young people in Germany have made headlines several times. A few days ago it was announced that an eleven-year-old was responsible for the violent death of a ten-year-old in a children’s home in Wunsiedel. He strangled the girl after an argument. In March, two girls aged 12 and 13 confessed to stabbing 12-year-old Luise. In these cases, the perpetrators are not yet criminally liable.
In Austria, young people can only be tried from the age of 14. On March 1, 2023, 116 children and young people between the ages of 14 and 18 were in prison in this country, 38 of which had consequences for life and limb.
