A freight train derailed in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) on Sunday. According to initial findings, the driver was killed. More than a hundred emergency services were at the scene of the accident in Geseke, the fire brigade announced.

The freight train was loaded with cement and was traveling in Geseke, west of Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia. Eyewitnesses to the accident are being investigated, a fire brigade spokesman said. There must be no acute danger to the population. Deutsche Bahn expressed its deep condolences to the relatives of the train driver who died in the accident.
