The White House gave no reason for the delay. The US president had previously traveled to Vietnam from the G20 summit in New Delhi. There he met the General Secretary of the Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong. This appointment took just a little longer than planned.
When the 80-year-old later appeared before the press, he often misunderstood himself, spoke slowly and often did not understand the questions. “I don’t know about you, but I’m going to bed now,” he announced. When the journalists shouted questions into the room, he continued to speak, unimpressed. He blamed a fan for Biden not understanding the questions.

Finally, his press spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre formally interrupted him and terminated the appointment. Joe Biden is the oldest American president ever and is seeking a second term. The American president wants to make economic progress, for example by closer cooperation in the production of semiconductors.
