A German group – including eight children – was traveling home from their holiday in Tyrol in two vehicles on Sunday. Another car crashed into the German vehicles.
Around 1:45 p.m., a German woman (36) was driving a minivan and right behind her a 23-year-old German woman was driving on Achenseestrasse in Eben towards Achenkirch. The eight occupants of the van (six children and two adults) were on their way home to Germany, as were the four occupants of the same group (two of which were children) in the next car.
Braking maneuvers as a trigger
According to previous findings, the driver of the minivan in Maurach had to suddenly brake sharply because the driver of the strange car in front of her made an abrupt left turn. Unlike the 36-year-old, the 23-year-old driver behind her was unable to stop in time and crashed her car into the back of the van.
Two passengers injured
The 23-year-old and a passenger in the car (a 14-year-old German) were slightly injured in the collision. After initial treatment, they were taken by the rescue team to Schwaz Hospital for further evaluation. There are currently no concrete indications that the driver caused the accident with his turning maneuver. The minibus was slightly damaged and the car seriously damaged.
