Devastating accident on Sunday afternoon at Lake Achensee in Tyrol: a 50-year-old hiker tripped on the path towards Pertisau and fell seven meters to the lake. The woman suffered injuries to her head and shoulder and had to be rescued by a water rescue.
The serious accident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. The 50-year-old local woman was walking along the Mariensteig from the Gaisalm along the Achensee towards Pertisau when she tripped near a large “gravel crack” and fell about seven meters to the lake.
Head and shoulder injuries
“The woman suffered injuries to her head and shoulder,” police said. The 50-year-old was rescued by a water rescue and taken to the boathouse in Pertisau.
She was then taken by ambulance to the Schwaz district hospital.
