A Viennese student (17) made a head in the water of the Neusiedler See in Burgenland, which was only 90 centimeters deep. The teen was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The 17-year-old was on a pedal boat trip near Podersdorf on Monday afternoon with eleven other classmates. The CPR students drove a total of three pedal boats away from the north beach. The teenager, from the Lower Austrian district of Mödling near Vienna, jumped about 200 meters from the shore, contrary to the instructions of the class teacher, into the shallow water of the lake.
Suspected spinal cord injury
The water level in this area is only about 80 to 90 centimeters. After his classmates rescued him from the lake, the 17-year-old was taken to the jetty and administered first aid. He was then flown to hospital with a suspected spinal cord injury.
