The Eastern Economic Forum will take place from September 11 to 13 in the Russian city of Vladivostok. According to the Kremlin, everything there will revolve around the topics of cooperation, peace and prosperity. Former Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl, who now lives in Russia, will attend. However, she doesn’t seem to find the event particularly exciting because, as per a video currently circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she visibly had trouble sleeping there.
According to the Russian state news agency Tass, the former minister did not speak kindly about Austria during the event and even insulted our country as “schizophrenic”. According to her, domestic politicians condemn those who cooperate with Russian companies, but at the same time OMV has a long-term contract with Gazprom.
The trigger for their resentment was Chancellor Karl Nehammer’s (ÖVP) statement that the purchase of Russian gas was unpleasant from a moral perspective, but necessary to ensure energy security. “That sounds very strange,” Kneissl said. “You can diagnose schizophrenia, which is a bit of schizophrenic behavior,” the Kremlin media quoted her as saying.
Don’t be afraid of drones
She also commented on the drone attacks that regularly take place in Russia, for which the Kremlin blames Ukraine. According to Kneissl, this is an attempt to exert psychological pressure on the Russian population. She didn’t notice much of the attacks.
Problems with driving
Tass quotes the politician as saying that she does not have the impression that anyone in Moscow or elsewhere would react in panic. The defense only has its pitfalls when driving, because then the navigation system fails. But she doesn’t let that fool her either. Because in this case she always has a card with her.
