Kittens abandoned – “The little ones were full of fly eggs!”

Date:

Little velvet paws are repeatedly let down because pet owners ignore the neuter requirement for outdoor cats.

As a result, many ‘unwanted’ kittens are born. At best, the owner is looking for new baskets for the little ones. At worst, he treats them like trash and throws them away. This could also have happened with the four velvet legs found on the side of the road. A fifth baby had already died and the animals were covered in millions of fly eggs.

“We don’t know what happened and whether the little ones were taken from their mother and left to die, or whether the mother was run over and therefore could no longer care for them,” says Claudia Herka from Parndorf animal shelter. “But we know that this suffering could have been prevented by timely castration.”

For the small creatures, such a start means pain and fear, for the animal keepers it means enormous psychological stress, sleepless nights and large financial costs. “And that is only because some people do not obey the laws and do not take responsibility,” says Herka.
