A 15-year-old from Klaus attended a party in Grünburg on Saturday evening. Shortly after midnight, the youngster wanted to leave the party, but she wanted to relieve herself in a nearby forest. She climbed over a fence, but due to the darkness and lack of local knowledge she did not know that beyond it was an almost vertical descent towards the River Steyr.
High-altitude rescuers in action
As a result, the girl fell to a height of 30 meters. A friend who witnessed the accident immediately started the rescue chain. Several surrounding fire brigades, including rescue teams and fire brigades equipped with boats, were alerted. Emergency services from the Federal Republic of Germany in Grünburg/Steinbach and Molln were brought to the injured girl. There was also a doctor who cared for the 15-year-old the entire time.
Picked up by boat
Since a rescue operation from the crash site could not be carried out due to the nature of the terrain, the girl had to be taken about 300 meters downstream in a boat from the FF Steyrling. Around 2:30 a.m., the 15-year-old was finally handed over to the rescue and taken to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum Steyr with injuries of an undetermined nature.
