The FPÖ and ÖVP will adopt an initiative for a six-month prison sentence for environmental activists in the Lower Austrian state parliament on Thursday. Both parties focus on ministers – albeit two different ones.
In an intimate meeting, the Freedom Party and the People’s Party in Lower Austria call for heavier penalties for climate glue. And they will also take concrete steps during the session of the state parliament: in a joint application, the state government will be asked to approach the federal government about a “new criminal offense for climate adhesives blocking emergency vehicles”. Because, especially if emergency vehicles are hindered, ‘the current small penalties can no longer suffice’, says the motion signed by three blue and as many black MPs.
