Erkoreka will meet with the Ertzaintza unions on Friday

Date:

The meeting will take place with ErNE, ESAN, SiPE and Euspel at the facilities of the Basque Government in Lakua. The Security Advisor has warned that all approaches will have to respect the principles of “realism, responsibility and legality”.

Vice President and Security Council member Josu Erkoreka has announced that he will meet with Ertzaintza union representatives at the Basque government facilities in Lakua (Vitoria-Gasteiz) on Friday, after several months of internal conflict.

According to the counselor, he will enter into discussions with the unions to discuss the concerns he has expressed ErNE, ESAN, SiPE and Euspelof the increasing “disrespect towards the ertzainas” among citizens, without prejudice to the ability to meet the demand for labor.

In recent months, the Ertzainas have taken to the streets to ask for a new agreement with a salary increase comparable to that of the best-paid municipal police officers.

In the Ertzaintza there are four unions with representation – Erne, Esan and Sipe, which maintain unity of action – plus Euspel, and the ‘Ertzainas in Struggle’ movement, which has been the protagonist of the mobilizations.

The counselor has warned that all approaches will have to respect the principles that the Lehendakari defends in these cases: “Realism, responsibility and legality”.

The unions will propose to renew their employment conditions

In turn, the three unions that make up the trade union unity, ErNE, ESAN and Sipethey will, among other things, propose to counsel the extension of the Regulatory Agreement on employment and salary conditions, which has expired for ten years.

The spokesperson of this union unit, Iñaki Uraga (ESAN), recalled that this will be the first meeting that these three unions will hold with the councilor since he took office just over three years ago.

He further expressed the wish that the meeting ‘would not be a simple meeting clean up your image and whiten your management and that the existing problems in the body are taken seriously” and that it serves to open “serious negotiations” with the ministry, although he added that “given the history of these three years” they are “with distrust” towards come to the meeting.”
