“No photo shoot” – After shocking image: Hacker demands quick clarification

Date:

There are drastic images that were leaked to the “Krone” from the clinic in Donaustadt on Wednesday. It shows a man who has fallen from his blood-stained bed and lies crumpled on the floor. For an hour or 20 minutes? No one knows for sure, because the night shift was seriously understaffed. This is probably not an isolated case that requires full clarification, says Peter Hacker, Vienna City Councilor for Public Health.

“If a patient has clearly fallen out of bed – for whatever reason – then no one on staff has time to take a photo – for whatever reason,” says Hacker.

“It could be a matter of seconds”
“The employees must always take care of the patients first. It could also be a matter of seconds. No care provider has time for a photo shoot. This is unacceptable to me.”

“The situation in the hospitals is tense. This is nothing new. We’re all fighting to make things better. All managers face this discussion. But failing to help can never serve to clarify a position,” he concludes.

The call for help is getting louder
“It can’t go on like this, we can’t go on anymore,” is what comes from the hospital. The care in the orthopedics and trauma department is hanging by a thread. Because there are hardly any nurses left. Many resigned or wanted to be transferred. On Sunday, ten patients were said to have been in corridor beds in one department. Gang beds that should not be called that because otherwise problems will come ‘from above’, according to those affected at the ‘Krone’.
