Not only is he the head of Fox News, he is considered one of the most influential media entrepreneurs in the world: Rupert Murdoch – 70 years after he started his career in Australia, he is now facing the end. His successor has already been determined.
The British BBC quotes a letter to Murdoch’s employees: “Our businesses are in robust health – as am I. Our opportunities far outweigh the commercial challenges.” However, he will step down from his position as CEO of News Corporation and Fox Corporation in November.
Son Lachlan takes over
The 92-year-old’s positions will be taken over by his son Lachlan. He went on to explain that he is optimistic about the years ahead, “and I plan to participate in them.” Murdoch senior should therefore be given a seat as an emeritus board member in the company.
Murdoch founded Fox News in 1996, now the most watched news channel in the United States. To News Corp. include numerous newspaper brands in Great Britain (“The Sun”, “The Times”), the US (“Wall Street Journal”, “New York Post”) and Australia.
