Russia has called for Jamala, the Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision Song Contest ESC 2016.
Russian state news agencies reported this on Monday. However, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow did not mention the criminal accusation against the singer of Crimean Tatar descent.
War of aggression exposed
In any case, 40-year-old Jamala, whose real name is Sussana Jamaladinova, has repeatedly publicly denounced Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
She also stands up for the Crimean Tatars, who are being oppressed in the Russia-annexed Crimean Peninsula, according to human rights reports.
Jamala’s ESC-winning song in Stockholm 2016 titled “1944” was reminiscent of the expulsion of the Crimean Tatars from their homeland at the time on Moscow’s orders.
