The Ligurian Riviera resort of Portofino becomes the first Italian community to name a street after the late Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi – just three months after his death.
Normally in Italy, ten years must pass after the death of a personality before a street can be named after him. But the city council soon gave permission to dedicate a street to the Milanese media magnate.
Reason: He “served the nation in particular.” The street dedicated to Berlusconi is located on a pedestrian street where Silvio Berlusconi often walked when he visited the city.
A ceremony is planned for October 14 in the presence of Berlusconi’s son Pier Silvio, during which the street will be inaugurated in honor of the great businessman, Portofino mayor Matteo Viacava said.
The Lombardy region has now decided to dedicate a large panoramic terrace on the 39th floor of the Palazzo Lombardia, the seat of the Lombardy regional parliament in Milan, to Berlusconi. A ceremony in honor of the former prime minister is planned for September 29, the day Berlusconi would have turned 87.
