Autumn storms and the traces of the night’s bloodshed cleared the parking lot of the popular Cine Nova Center in Wiener Neustadt on Sunday. A few hours earlier, a violent drama had unfolded there in the presence of dozens of eyewitnesses.
The victim died on the spot
A well-known Turk (42) stood up in front of his opponent – also a Turkish citizen living in Vienna – around midnight and shot him several times in the upper body at close range. The victim (34), a businessman, collapsed covered in blood and died on the spot. Witnesses tried to resuscitate him, but no rescue was possible.
While still alerting police, the gunman jumped into the car and sped away towards the border. However, he was arrested that morning in Hungary on an international arrest warrant.
Money debt as a motive?
When it comes to the motive for the crime, officers of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Investigation Department investigate information about drugs or a deadly argument about possible financial debts. There is talk of a small loan that the later victim gave to the shooter.
