Dealing with dementia is one of the biggest challenges that society and the healthcare system will have to overcome in the coming years. However, early detection can delay and slow the progression of the disease, says a dementia trainer from Burgenland.
Currently, approximately 130,000 people in Austria suffer from dementia. By 2050, this number is expected to rise to approximately 230,000, as incidence and prevalence rates increase with age and longer life expectancy. But lack of exercise, obesity, little sleep, social isolation, cigarette and alcohol use, psychological stress in middle age and depression also promote the development of the disease.
