The 28-year-old who stabbed two caregivers at a social institution in Elsbethen (Salzburg) on April 26, seriously injuring them both, was suffering from acute psychosis at the time of the crime. An expert on behalf of the judiciary has now confirmed this. The attacker is not sane and is considered dangerous.
As the readers of “Krone” know, a Salzburger entered the social service there that afternoon. In spite of the facility, the 28-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed two supervisors during an argument, punching one in the chest, the other in the abdomen.
The 28-year-old then fled and went to the local police station himself. He turned himself in to the officers and confessed to the knife attack. The prosecutor’s office then requested a neuropsychiatric expert to clarify the issue of sanity.
28-year-old suffers from schizophrenic illness
In fact, the man suffered from an acute psychosis during the crime, according to the report that has now been received by the court. The expert testified to an untreated schizophrenic illness with a disturbance in self-esteem and a marked lack of reality.
In addition, the expert assumes that he is dangerous: “There is a good chance that the man will commit crimes with serious consequences under the influence of his serious mental disorder”. The expert advises admission to a forensic therapeutic center.
