The strikes will take place on October 17, 18 and 19 and from December 11 to 15. According to ELA in a statement, employers remain “stuck in their immobility” after the strike day of April 25.
The unions ELA, Steilas, CCOO, LAB and UGT have called for an eight-day strike in educational schools for social initiatives; that is, in most subsidized centers. The strikes will take place on the days October 17, 18 and 19 and from December 11 to 15ELA said in a statement.
According to the Abertzale union, after the day of April 25 strike, “the bosses remain stuck in their immobility.” “Five months have passed since the strike and the unions have not heard from them. They also ignored the request for negotiations sent to them before the strike. The unions have had no choice but to strengthen the momentum of the strike and mobilization,” it added.
“If after these strike days there is still no content that would allow signing the collective agreement, they will intensify the strike dynamics in January,” he warned.
For example, the unions ELA, STEILAS, CCOO, LAB and UGT are asking employers Kristau Eskola and AICE-IZEA to start ‘a real negotiation’. “The Basque government also has a say in this conflict,” they emphasized. Therefore, they announced that they will make a request to meet with the Ministry of Education to convey the lockdown situation.
During the negotiation process of the new agreement, implementations were made 13 meetings of negotiation. The meetings started in May 2022 and the last was on February 2, 2023. The meeting ended without a date for the next table.
The main union demands focus on measures to reduce workload, improvements for the most feminized and precarious sectors, salary increases guaranteeing the CPI, measures to preserve jobs and improvements for vocational training. Plans for the Basque language, equality plans and plans to tackle occupational health risks and especially psychosocial risks are also in the crosshairs of the trade unions.
