After a 15-year-old punched a classmate (14) at a college in Pregarten, Upper Austria, the suspect has been ruled out for lack of immediate danger.
Katharina T. (14) still has to take painkillers. A school friend (15) allegedly punched the girl from Wartberg/Aist in the face on 5 May during the 10 a.m. break in the classroom of the Pregarten Polytechnic School. The teenager was admitted to the Freistadt clinic with suspected concussion. She is now taking lessons again, but no longer feels comfortable in the presence of the attacker.
File a report against perpetrators
Her father, Klaus T. (54) had therefore requested that the boy who had been accused of assault be temporarily removed from class and undergo anti-aggression training. However, according to the Upper Austrian Education Directorate, a suspension of the 15-year-old is not possible.
“Such a move”, says Elisabeth Seiche, spokeswoman for the Upper Austrian Education Directorate, “would only be conceivable in the event of imminent danger.” That is not the case here. “Since May 5, nothing has happened.” In the current school year, however, there have already been 259 suspensions from compulsory schools in Upper Austria.
No anti-aggression training
The school itself cannot offer anti-aggression training either. “But our school psychologist is on duty and the case is also closely monitored within the classroom.” There was a conversation between the perpetrator and the victim. Both would also have the phone number of the mentoring teacher they could contact 24/7.
