The puma called “Pele”, which was freed from a wooden box about two months ago, will move from Munich to the Eastern Styrian animal kingdom Herberstein in Styria in the coming days. His journey is already being prepared in Germany. If all goes well, the arrival should be on Friday.
In mid-March, police officers discovered and freed the emaciated, sick and distraught Puma in a wooden box in a car in Upper Palatinate, Germany. In the exotic house of the reptile sanctuary in Munich, the animal was restored to health and baptized “Pele”. He has since recovered well and is almost cuddly with people he knows, the station reported.
Now it is ready for transport to Austria. “We sincerely hope that the true-to-life attitude at Herberstein Zoo combined with highly motivated zookeepers and a congener for “Pele” means a full recovery and a long, happy life,” the reptile sanctuary in Munich said on Wednesday.
Transport shouldn’t be a problem
Vet Markus Baur expects few problems with the planned move for Thursday and Friday. “Pele” is trained. In addition, a transport box has been in his accommodation for a few days, which he already uses for sleeping. “I think he goes in there alone.”
“Pele” will first explore his new kingdom in an area separated from the cougar females “Missoula”. Only when the two have become accustomed to each other, the separation fence is broken down. The Puma enclosure has already been modified and is about 3,500 square feet, of course, has trees, viewing platforms and a jumping area. “Missoula’s” previous partner “Seal” had passed away last year, and now the nine-year-old lady has a new one by her side.
