About a month ago the fire brigades in and around Krems an der Donau went on a large scale to the castle ruins of Senftenberg (Lower Austria). The barn of the ruin was robbed and then set on fire. Four young men have now confessed to the break-in.
Four young men (17 to 21 years old) from the Tulln and Vienna districts are said to have suffered eight burglaries, three material damage and one arson within a week with a total damage of 130,000 euros. The quartet wanted to escape their arrest with a daring car ride.
He passed through the area of Sieghartskirchen at speeds of up to 150 km/h. After a 50-kilometer chase, the gang fled into a wooded area. Moments later, she was found there and arrested. Burglary tools were found during a search of the getaway car.
As the “Krone” found out, those arrested are also believed to have been responsible for the barn robbery of the idyllic Senftenberg castle ruins and even attempted to break into the local car company that same night. Observant neighbors noticed this, but those unknown at the time were able to flee.
They are also accused of shooting a parked car with a crossbow, which they had stolen shortly before when they broke into a gas station, causing serious damage.
Has confessed to the break-in, but not the firing
When questioned by police officers, the suspects confessed to almost everything, including breaking into the barn near the castle ruins. The suspects strongly deny the arson, by far the largest contributor to the total damage. So further investigations are ongoing. The 20-year-old from the Tulln district was taken to jail and the other three men were reported.
