Six people died in a fire at a nightclub in the Spanish city of Murcia on Sunday, four were taken to hospital with smoke poisoning and many are still missing.
As the Spanish newspaper “La Vanguardia” reports, citing rescuers, they gained access to the building after extinguishing the flames and found the fatalities.
According to the BBC, the fire at the popular nightclub Teatre broke out around 6 a.m. and the flames were not extinguished until around 9 a.m. The fire brigade is still looking for more missing persons.
Spanish police and the mayor of the city in southeastern Spain believe the death toll could continue to rise. It is still unclear what caused the fire.
