One of those affected fell into the open tank where the stock is made. His companions tried to help him, but all inhaled carbon dioxide and two died.
Two people, aged 60 and 61, were killed and another, aged 31, was injured and evacuated to a hospital in Logroño in an industrial accident that occurred this Sunday at a winery in the town of Lanciego in Alava.
Sources from the Basque Ministry of Security and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Provincial Council of Álava reported that someone called the emergency services after 1:30 p.m. because three people were in bad condition.
When the ambulances arrived on the scene, the doctor confirmed the death of two of those affected. The third, a worker, was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital in Logroño.
The events took place at a winery that makes wine but does not bottle it, and apparently one of those affected fell into the open tank where the wines are made. His companions tried to help him, but they all inhaled carbon dioxide, which ended the lives of these two people.
