It’s autumn. The leaves change color and transform entire areas into a colorful carpet of spots. In Pomfret, people may not be particularly happy about this. A fate that the American city shares with Hallstatt at home and is therefore now – just like there – taking special measures.
Pomfret is located in the northeastern US state of Vermont. “The terrain is hilly, but without large mountains,” Wikipedia says of the small town, where Pope John Paul II even traveled to in 1976 to visit an old acquaintance – although he was still a cardinal at the time. There is little else to report about the city, which has a population of 916 according to the last census. Nevertheless, Pomfret is currently on everyone’s lips, much to their dismay. The fall is to blame, but especially the large number of Instagram influencers that this brings.
