Jeweler’s new tenant – Austria’s oldest brothel opens in new splendor

Date:

After a long break, the red lights in Maxim came back on. A goldsmith refined the rooms of the more than 500-year-old brothel in Steyr (Upper Austria). The native Pole also cares for the well-being of the five love servants. He just doesn’t welcome bank employees.

Austria’s oldest brothel is open again. Steyr’s Badgasse was dead for almost nine months, and now the legendary light sign with the word “Open” at the entrance lights up again, almost around the clock, seven days a week. “We are a whorehouse from noon to 8 p.m., then a nightclub until 5 a.m.,” says new tenant Przemyslaw Domanski enthusiastically about his new bar.

Goldsmith has found his brothel gem
He actually learned the trade of goldsmith and jeweler in his home country of Poland and practiced it for a long time. Two years ago, the 50-year-old, who speaks fluent German, moved to Austria via Germany and Italy. “The goal was to open a hotel, which became the Laufhaus in Ottensheim,” smiles Domanski.

When he heard about the search for a tenant for the Maxim in the “Krone”, he was immediately hooked: “I want to run a chain of brothels. For me, as an enthusiastic historian, Maxim was simply a must. With the almost 500 year old tradition, it fascinates me!”

Problems with banks
Despite the good cooperation with Steyr’s judge, the opening did not go smoothly. “Unfortunately, a bank caused me a lot of problems,” says the ambitious entrepreneur, looking back on some pretty tough times.

The well-being of sex workers is our top priority
He also does not welcome employees of the bank in question. He treats his five Maxim love servants all the more warmly. “They all have a complicated history. That’s why I always look at the human side. Money is not my top priority,” Domanski says. For the time being, he will not collect room rent or commission from the ladies for an indefinite period of time.

Speaking of rooms: most have been completely redesigned. The ground floor remained untouched: “This is a historic gem!”
