Former Minneapolis Police Officer Thomas Lane Pleads Guilty to George Floyd’s Death

Thomas Lane has been charged with complicity in second-degree manslaughter. Both the prosecution and the defense have demanded a prison sentence of three years. The final sentence will be announced on September 21.

Thomas Lane former Minneapolis police officer who was then officer Derek Chauvin. accompanied when he choked George Floyd, he pleaded guilty yesterday to complicity in second-degree involuntary manslaughter.

Lane has reached an agreement with the public prosecutor that: will serve a three-year prison term Yes With which will avoid being judged in state court on charges of complicity in first degree murder.

Unlike Lane, the other two former officers who were with Chauvin when he killed Floyd, Tou Thao and Alexander Kueng, are on trial next month in state court.

The same court was the one that sentenced Chauvin last year to 22 and a half years in prison, of which he will serve 15, for the murder of Floyd.

Floyd died on May 25, 2020 after Chauvin pressed his knee to his neck for more than nine minutes.
