Until now, climate activists of the last generation in Tyrol had only confined themselves to the streets or blocked roads with sit-ins. On Monday evening, several strangers went one step further and caused a lot of graffiti in the area around Innsbruck’s main university. The police were able to arrest a suspect: a German.
“You are all from the last generation,” “Your actions are also a duty,” or “What are you going to do?” Slogans like this have been in abundance since Monday evening on the grounds of Innsbruck’s main university – especially in the area around the university library.
Security guards sounded the alarm
“Around 9 p.m., numerous previously unknown climate activists had smeared texts on benches, stairs and windows of the building,” researchers say. The security guards then immediately alerted the police.
German activist still on site
When the first patrols arrived, a suspect was still on the scene. It involved a 27-year-old German woman. It is displayed. The investigation into the other vandals is still ongoing.
Crossing blocked – backlog to the highway
This was not the only action of the Last Generation on Monday in Tyrol. In the morning, climate activists in Hall blocked the Pfannhausstrasse/Stadtgraben intersection. After authorities threatened to break up the protest due to backlogs on the Inntal highway, the activists left voluntarily.
