The new attraction at Vienna’s Danube Tower is not for the faint of heart: a slide has been added to the 252-meter-high structure. It is said to be the highest in all of Europe.
The “Danube Tower Slide” is a project by the German object artist Carsten Höller. It will adorn Austria’s tallest building for three years and thrill visitors.
“Foresight and an adrenaline rush”
The slide is located on the northern exterior of the tower. From November it will be possible to slide on mats through a transparent work of art from the central floor at a height of 165 meters to the viewing level at a height of 150 meters “and get an adrenaline rush in addition to the panoramic view.” promises a press release.
Parts delivered by helicopter
The area around the tower was completely closed off for two hours on Tuesday for assembly. The elements were delivered by helicopter. The Danube Tower will remain closed until October 17 for the necessary final work. In addition, the tower café will soon be running again after the broadcast has undergone technical maintenance.
