The secondary computer science school MSi Feuerbach in Vienna is a good example of digitalization in schools. Not only do they have the mandatory subject ‘Digital Primary Education’ once a week, but they also integrate the iPad into other lessons. From mathematics to geography, technical teaching aids are used here. crown.tv was there and saw what digital primary education looks like in practice.
In Austria, the digitalization of education seems beyond any doubt. More and more children are being equipped with devices – from fifth grade through senior years. In some primary schools the tablet has even found its way into education.
Much is promised: learning could be arranged in a playful way with the help of computers, students would continuously strengthen their digital skills and would also have all the knowledge that search engines and artificial intelligence provide.
The MSi Feuerbach school is a good example. They have fully integrated digitization into their school day and also work with the iPad outside the subject ‘Digital Primary Education’.
To ensure that this works smoothly in all schools in the future, the educational research project “dig!doc” was launched. Six dissertations investigate various aspects of the implementation of the new teaching subject ‘Digital Basic Education’ at secondary school.
You can see the entire visit to the MSi Feuerbach school in the video above.
