An 86-year-old pedestrian was injured in a traffic accident in Steinach am Brenner (Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land) on Tuesday morning. A driver (76) overlooked him when he drove out of a parking space. Even when he caught the man, he probably didn’t notice him.
The 76-year-old local man reversed out of a parking lot around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. At the same time, the pedestrian wanted to cross Brennerstrasse and was hit by the car. The 86-year-old fell to the ground and injured himself. However, the driver drove away in a southerly direction without stopping.
Witnesses noted license plate numbers and provided first aid
Witnesses saw the accident and came to the aid of the injured local resident. They also noted the license plate number of the vehicle involved in the accident. While the 86-year-old was taken to hospital in Hall in Tyrol, police investigated the 76-year-old.
He told officers he did not notice the accident. When the investigation is completed, a report will be sent to the responsible public prosecutor’s office.
