After the temporary disappearance of a two-year-old girl from a playground in Munich, the Public Prosecution Service is investigating a 43-year-old girl. The woman spoke to the child and was able to get him to follow her into the apartment. A neighbor was surprised by the strange child and called the police.
It is unclear why the woman kidnapped the child. Police said they were behaving “psychologically abnormal” when the woman was taken to a hospital for examination.
“The Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office I has started an investigation against the suspect due to an initial suspicion of kidnapping of minors,” a spokeswoman for the authority announced on Friday.
Ten patrols were involved in the search
As police announced a day earlier, the child disappeared from a playground in a Munich park early Tuesday evening. The mother could no longer find her daughter among a group of playing children. She searched the area with other playground visitors and alerted police when the child remained missing. They then initiated extensive search measures, including loudspeaker announcements. The search involved ten patrols, including emergency services personnel and an assistance dog handler with a dog.
Neighbor heard children crying loudly
They didn’t find the little girl, but a witness alerted police because she heard children crying loudly from the apartment of a neighbor she knew didn’t have children. “The situation seemed very suspicious to the informant,” the police report said. Emergency services found the missing two-year-old and a 43-year-old woman in the hallway and returned the child to his mother.
