Expert explains – Domino Effect on Blackout: Tyrol’s special role

Date:

The fact that the electricity in Spain and Portugal failed on Monday has shown that the risk of a blackout is more real than we would like. An expert explains how such a large power failure can occur, which makes the training difficult and why Tyrol triumphs in an emergency with a particularly favorable starting point.

Christian Ammer, head of system management networks at Tinetz, classifies the current failure on the Iberian peninsula as a “very serious accident”. Even if Tyrol hardly felt anything: that the power outages could spread so extensively, the cross -border -electricity grid in Europe owes. “This is something very positive,” says Ammer. “If a line fails, you can support yourself.” An imbalance can be compensated in a larger network, so related individual malfunctions are no problem.
