An Egyptian police officer has shot dead two Israeli tourists and their local guide in Alexandria, in an action for which the causes are still unknown.
The police officer, who has already been arrested, “fired indiscriminately with his weapon at the group of Israeli tourists, killing two people and wounding others,” an anonymous security source cited by EFE said.
The shooting took place in the Pompeo Column area, Al Mansheya district. So far, the Egyptian government has not responded to this information.
Tourists from Israel regularly visit the neighboring country, and these types of actions are not common.
In June, an Egyptian police officer entered Israel and killed three Israeli soldiers. The Israeli army admitted mistakes at the border. This event occurred in isolation and did not cause diplomatic tensions between Israel and Egypt.
