After a lynx was killed by poachers in Upper Carinthia last week, police are now investigating the case.
“Years of work were ruined and virtually thrown out the window by the illegal shooting of the lynx ‘Sofia’,” emphasizes wildlife biologist Paolo Molinari. As reported, the animal was found dead during gatherings. The police take the poaching case very seriously. “There are traces, but details are not given to me for investigative reasons,” Molinari said.
“Intensive cooperation”
The Carinthian hunting community also strongly condemns the shooting. “Everyone is working intensively together to find the perpetrator.” Fortunately, the lynx had no young yet. We can only hope that the second lynx, ‘Margit’, which migrated to Styria, is spared this fate.
There are also two male animals in the Rosental area and on the border with Slovenia.
