Wild and dangerous scenes unfolded in Innsbruck on Saturday: a suspected drug driver wanted to avoid a police check and accelerated. A chase ensued: the suspect drove through a red light and avoided a police barrier by driving too fast on the sidewalk.
In the Hötting district of Innsbruck – in the Scheuchenstuelgasse area – the initially unknown driver became the target of a police patrol because of his conspicuous driving style. The officers tried to stop the man, but he ignored all stop signs and accelerated.
The final stop is only at the second police blockade
The police immediately started the chase. Despite the red light, the driver drove through an intersection. “He then drove around a police car parked on the other side of the road on Kranebitter Allee by driving on the sidewalk,” the investigators said. The suspect – a Hungarian (22) – was only finally stopped by another patrol car.
“During the check, the officers discovered that the 22-year-old did not have a driver’s license. The driver also showed clear symptoms of drug-related impairment,” the investigators continued. A voluntary urine test confirmed the suspicion, after which the Hungarian was taken to the doctor.
Cannabis seized in car
According to the police, he eventually determined that he was suffering from addictive substances and fatigue. Small amounts of cannabis were seized in the Hungarian’s vehicle. Related advertisements follow.
