Escape after release – prisoners asked residents in Meidling for shelter

Several residents in Vienna-Meidling raised the alarm with the police on Monday morning because two unknown people – a man (27) and a woman (30) – rang their doorbell and asked for shelter. The couple said they were on the run. A short time later it turned out that they were two prisoners who had not returned to prison.

Around 10 a.m., officers were informed of the two unknown persons by concerned residents. A search for the couple was immediately launched. It wasn’t long before the 27-year-old was discovered by emergency services in the nearby garden area of ​​an allotment. But who was missing: his girlfriend.

Injured while climbing a fence
The inmate stated that the 30-year-old injured her hand while climbing a fence and was bleeding as a result. Officers from the police dog unit and a human sniffer dog were immediately called in to pursue the woman. This was also found a short time later in the garden section of an allotment garden.

After medical treatment, the two runaways were returned to the responsible prison guards and taken to prison.
