A man from the American state of Missouri set a very strange world record on Monday. Steve Kueny paddled more than 38 miles down the Missouri River while kneeling in a giant pumpkin he grew himself.
Kueny departs from Kansas City (Kansas) at 7:30 am and reaches the city of Napoleon (Missouri) after almost eleven hours at 6:18 pm. Half a dozen boats joined him to make sure “we do something very stupid very safely,” he told USA Today.
His numerous companions helped Kueny monitor his pace to ensure he was not paddling in the dark. He explained that he arrived at his destination “frozen, tired, but happy with the result.”
Pumpkin originally weighed half a ton
The vehicle, originally carved from a giant 1,100-pound pumpkin, was named “Huckle Berry.” Kueny created stability by placing sandbags on the bottom of his cold and slimy pumpkin kayak.
Kueny now plans to submit all evidence collected corroborating his record attempt, such as witnesses, GPS data, time stamps, video recordings, photographs and other documents, to the Guinness Book of Records for verification, in the hope that it is recognized as a record. .
Last year a pumpkin boater set a record of 60 kilometers in eleven hours.
