On Tuesday morning, a head-on collision occurred between two cars on the L 665 in Seggauberg (Leibnitz district). Both drivers were subsequently trapped in the wreckage and seriously injured.
The Leibnitz city fire brigade and the Seggauberg fire brigade were warned of a traffic accident with a trapped person in the morning hours of October 10. On State Road 665, the driver of a vehicle left the road for an unknown reason and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on. One of the cars was thrown into the ditch, the second turned 180 degrees and came to a stop in a meadow. A driver who arrived at the accident started the rescue chain and immediately provided first aid. He was able to free the driver of the oncoming vehicle from the wreckage.
When emergency services arrived, a driver was trapped in his vehicle. After the accident site and the accident vehicle had been secured, access to the car was created via the driver’s side using the hydraulic rescue device to allow first aid from the emergency doctor and the Red Cross. After this was done, the injured man was able to be lifted from the wreckage of his accident with great care. Both drivers were transported to hospital.
The L665 was closed to traffic during the work.
