A serious accident occurred late on Tuesday afternoon in the Vorarlberg city of Dornbirn. An 18-year-old BMW driver crashed into the electric car of a 24-year-old woman. The police have started an extensive investigation. It is said that the BMW driver was clearly driving too fast.
Around 5:10 p.m., an 18-year-old man from Dornbirn drove his BMW – according to police reports – at apparently high speed on the Dr. Anton Schneider Straße coming from the train station in the direction of Schwarzach. In addition to the young driver, there were two other people in the car. At the same time, a 24-year-old with her small electric car wanted to turn left from Mähdergasse to Dr. Turn onto Anton Schneider Straße.
Woman flown to hospital
As a result, a violent collision occurred between the two vehicles at the intersection. As a result of the collision, both drivers and passengers were injured to an unspecified degree – the 24-year-old woman from Dornbirn was so seriously injured that she had to be taken to hospital by the Christophorus 8 emergency medical helicopter.
Police drone in action
The alcohol test for both drivers was negative. To clarify the exact cause of the accident, the Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office called in an accident expert and seized the two significantly damaged vehicles. Aerial photos were also taken by a police drone to clarify the cause of the accident.
