Police were called to a crime scene in front of a hotel in the center of Klagenfurt on Tuesday evening. A man from Vienna was beaten up and seriously injured in the face.
The victim, a 40-year-old Viennese, stated that he was forcibly grabbed by the neck from behind by a man and violently punched in the face. His wallet and smartphone were stolen. The suspected perpetrator fled towards the city center.
Suspect arrested at gas station
As part of an immediate search, the suspect was arrested at a gas station in Klagenfurt. The stolen property could be removed, found and secured both in the suspect’s possession and in the Benedictine market. The suspect, a 28-year-old from Klagenfurt, was arrested and transferred to the Klagenfurt police detention center.
The victim suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to Klagenfurt hospital by the rescue team. The 28-year-old from Klagenfurt is reported.
